Daily Tests
When you wake up, there are always choices that are part of each day. You can walk into the day with a desire to tackle any obstacle thrown across your path, or you can sit back and let the day dictate your attitude, possibly covering that shine in a veil of darkness.

Truth Is
On Tuesday, I woke up in a funk. The day was pushing me around. My desire to do much else other than just survive till the next day was lacking.
And again, you have a decision. You sit back and let the day dictate your moves or you step up.
So I stepped up. I made the decision to roll forward, got changed, packaged the mountain bike up and drove to the trails.
At first, I pedaled into the trail, allowing the downhill momentum to drive forward my speed. The chill of the air hitting my face, dodging a tree, jumping over a rock. The mud slid, the trail fast.
In just minutes, the freedom began to take over. Nothing else mattered, nothing else existed. It was my bike, the trail, and my soul.

So While It’s Not Easy
So while it’s not easy, if you can give yourself the strength to make the decision for yourself. To choose to take the day back. The choice to accept what you can’t change but changing the things you can.
Well, you might just be surprised.
I stopped by the river and enjoyed the songs the water sang, the sun on my face.
I was pedaling up a climb where a snack sat, bathing in the sun. (he didn’t even move, I went around him but said “hi” first and had a short convo about his life. I was free. Free of the day, of the energy that was attempting to take over my soul.
I was free to live.
So I chose. I chose life, and the moments we have the ability to create.
Of Course There’s Always Moab

Then of course there’s always Moab. The Slick Rock Trail is one of the top mountain bike trails in the world. It may not be the fastest, it may not be the most difficult but it is surely, one of the most iconic. And I wouldn’t mind being back there right now. 🙂
