Imagine if you stopped worrying about what other people thought of you?
That’s a trait I would teach young people in school, a life lesson. Maybe it’s a full year course. To teach our youth not to worry about what other people think of you could be one of the most beneficial lessons ever taught. Ever learned.
Every day we grow, not just in size, not just in age. We grow in our armor. Protecting ourselves, or believing we are protecting ourselves, from anything that might get in our way of our dreams when in reality, it is us in the way of our own dreams.
When you were younger, a child fumbling through the days, I understand that you needed this armor. You’re not little anymore, you’re not a child. You’re still here searching and you may feel lost more than ever. That’s what I seem to witness so often. You need to take off your armor, let go of that weight. Time is growing so shorter by the minute. It’s literally running out on you.
Is that scary?
Good, because it should be. You can’t get it back. It’s the one thing that goes and is gone.
You have so many unknown adventures ahead of you, so much life. It may sound crazy but it’s not too late to reinvent your life to be what you want. But you need to stop worrying about what other people think of you, throw that anchor line to the rough seas and hold fast and sail on. You are courage, you are love, you are brave. And you need to go. Show up. Be seen. Be you.
And teach the youth along the way. Why? Simple…
All you could accomplish if you stopped worrying about what other people thought of you?
I know I’m trying… Even on the days I feel lost……………………….
